My memories of the "Day in Infamy"

I was in the backyard that Sunday afternoon when someone had heard over the radio that Japan had bombed Hawaii and our  Navy.  We went to school as always Monday morning. quiet and bewildered

Our day was spent listening to Congress declare war (lacking only one positive vote.)  We heard the president, Roosevelt,   call the attack "a day  in infamy"

  1. Hi there. Was just trying to find some information on the USS Pickens, as that was the ship my grandfather was on in WWII, and came across your blog. I was just wondering if you could possibly be able to give me a little more info on that ship. Thanks!
