50 years of failure

One half a century ago Lyndon Johnson began  his war on poverty and after 22 trillion was spent, poverty is greater than before.

Why is that surprising.   The so-called war consisted of throwing money into programs that had no chance of succeeding.  Money  flowed into the pockets of many and flowed out again.  I still remember some of the ways the government found to waste money, even paying rioters.  Why does our government insist on throwing money at programs that cannot work?

Even Franklin Roosevelt's lettered organizations like the PWA and WPA left us with some streets, dams and outdoor toilets.

Why cannot our so-called leaders understand that production and real jobs come from agriculture, mining and manufacturing ?  The government, through the EPA, adopts regulations that handicap those three industries.  For example, Obama wants to regulate and fine coal mining until it can not exist.
