My mom would be 113 today.

February is our shortest month but it is filled with special days. Among them I thought I could never forget was the invasion of Iwo Jima. Our ship took Marines to the islands for several days of fierce fighting. I remember the flag raising, whic led to the famous picture, followed by statures being erected.

My memories of the "Day in Infamy"

I was in the backyard that Sunday afternoon when someone had heard over the radio that Japan had bombed Hawaii and our  Navy.  We went to school as always Monday morning. quiet and bewildered

Our day was spent listening to Congress declare war (lacking only one positive vote.)  We heard the president, Roosevelt,   call the attack "a day  in infamy"

property, and Indians can always get support if a cemetery or other such property will be damaged.  The pipeline will be a benefit..
